Self care for health professionals

his course is about growing your capacity as a clinical supervisor to enhance the learning experiences of students, with the intention that they will return to practice rurally. Student experiences on a rural clinical placement can be a strong influence on intention to practice in a rural location after graduation. We want to help you to build the future rural heath workforce by supporting you in your supervisory role. These modules are just the start! We’d love to continue working with you to nurture the students on their clinical training journey and to ultimately build and improve workforce and patient care in these settings.
Highlighting the features of rural practice, supporting students to be proactive in seeking out learning opportunities, managing students in the workplace, developing cultural awareness and safety, and creating a best practice clinical learning environment are just some of the strategies you can think about to build capacity in supervisory practice.

Self-care relates to an individual's health and wellbeing, specifically to maintaining your physical, emotional and mental health. As a personal concern, every person’s approach to self-care will potentially differ. Self-care relates to what you do at work, home and elsewhere to look after your holistic wellbeing, so that you can meet your personal and professional commitments.

Self-care is vital for wellbeing. Self-care, stress and mindfulness are terms you’ve probably heard or used. However, you might not always put these concepts into your own practice as a means to facilitate longevity and prevention of burnout as a health professional. This module looks at emotional intelligence, what stress is and how it impacts us.
